Colombia
Colombia is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse countries in the world, with its rich cultural heritage reflecting influences by indigenous peoples, European settlement, African migration, and immigration from Europe and the Middle East. However, it is also home to over 1 million refugees that have fled from Venezuela and are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
Hope Humanitarian will be guiding a humanitarian trip to Colombia this spring to work with refugees March 6 – 15th in the Pamplona and Cucuta areas. Volunteers will assist with medical clinics, food distribution, a building project to provide additional housing for a local shelter and will help refugees fill out paperwork to be eligible for employment within Colombia. Spanish speaking volunteers are greatly needed.

Bangladesh
Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees entered Bangladesh from neighboring Myanmar when violence erupted in their country in August 2017. Since then, over 750,000 men, women and children have fled to escape military forces who have burned their homes and villages and killed over 6,700 individuals.
These refugees are living in primitive camps with little access to food and clean water and are struggling each day just to survive. The UN has described this mass exodus of Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar as “a textbook example of ethnic cleansing”.
Expeditions to Bangladesh are currently on hold because of the gobal pandemic.

Turkey
Turkey is home to over 3 million Syrian refugees who have fled a violent civil war. They live mostly in unofficial refugee camps in and around agricultural areas. Heating and cooling of the tents they call home is less than adequate. They struggle to have clean water and appropriate sanitation. They are also a kind and generous people who largely just want to go back home to Syria without worrying they will be bombed during their sleep. Hope Humanitarian’s teams have helped provide more than 80 tons of food – more than 150,000 meals – for refugees, as well as provided new toilets and solar showers for the camps we support.

Belize
Belize is an emerging economy in the Caribbean, with a population of approximately 420,000. It has a diverse society that is composed of many cultures and languages that reflect its rich history. It is the only Central American country where English is the official language. Belize also has a high rate of poverty, where six out of 10 children lack basic needs, including adequate nutrition, clean drinking water, proper sanitation, adequate housing, and access to education. Our projects vary, but you can count on meaninful work and awe-inspiring cultural experiences.

Haiti
Decimated by a major earthquake in 2010, Haiti is still struggling to recover and that includes their orphanages.
Hope Humanitarian is thrilled to be guiding a group of volunteers to the Centre de Secours des Enfants en Difficulté (CSEDI) orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
